Mararikulam is a sleepy fishing village located between the port city of Cochin and Alleppey. And here, amidst the coconut groves is the Marari Beach Resort set in a superb location of 25 acres of coconut palm grooves leading down to the vast expanse of beach. This resort is 90 km from Cochin International airport and 12 km from Alleppey. It is constructed with a strong ethnic flavour. All 52 villa-cottages are air-conditioned with twin or double beds, mini bar, coffee making facilities and delightfully furnished verandah with ceiling fan. The bathrooms are spacious and modern, built in traditional Keralian style with an open-air courtyard, complete with a banana or Papaya tree. Each villa has a small private garden area. Activities here include cruises on the backwaters nearby, visits to traditional coir-making units etc and Amphitheater for cultural shows. Services include doctor on call, Ayurveda centre, purified water, laundry facilities, and currency exchange facilities. There is a buffet resort, which serves delectable fare, both Indian and Continental and a bar. The "beach-shack" set amongst the coconut palm fronting the beach serves delicious fish and seafood.

With its wealth of historical associations and beautiful setting on a cluster of islands and narrow peninsulas, Cochin or Kochi, reflects the eclecticism of Kerala perfectly. Traders from the West came to Kerala as far back as the 3rd century B.C. and took back with them spices, ivory and teak. Much later, in the 15th century, the Portuguese, Dutch, French and British came to this region in the guise of merchants, some to stay on as colonial rulers. They all left their impression on the town. Modern Cochin is a splendid mosaic myriad where Portuguese architecture and British influences all blend harmoniously with the basic thread of Kerala's rich heritage. Here you can also see the oldest church in India.

It has one of the finest harbors in the world (all weather natural harbor and historic port) is one of the India's most exciting, interesting and beautiful cities with a grand seascape and extremely pretty locations and landscape (It is also called the Queen of Arabian Sea.) The lagoons, wooded lands and backwaters of this palm-green commercial town enhances its beauty.
